For the past few years, the local non-profit Palo Alto Transportation Management Association (PATMA) has been referring to SVBE, low-wage service sector workers in Palo Alto who would prefer an active commute to work. With funding from PATMA, Bike Exchange matches workers with a refurbished bike as well as a helmet, lock and lights. This partnership has reduced traffic congestion, demand for parking and greenhouse gas emissions in Palo Alto, as well as supported the workers and small businesses that are the lifeblood of our local economy.
