Our Successful Spring Parking Lot Sale!
SVBE would like to give our sincerest thanks to all the volunteers who helped out at our Big Spring Parking Lot Bike Sale on Saturday, March 21!
With the great weather we've been having, the last two weeks have already been pretty solid, sales-wise. So much so that we were concerned about having enough bikes ready for the Big Sale. At the start of the event, we had 65 bikes for sale and we added on a couple more thanks to the QA crew.

At Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange, we have launched Veteran Repair Days in partnership with Veterans Association (V.A.) Palo Alto Health Care System’s Recreation Therapy. Held twice monthly on Tuesdays from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, the program offers local Veterans a low-key, supportive environment to learn bicycle repair skills while helping to refurbish bikes for donation in support of our mission to donate 900 repaired bicycles this year.

Get ready for a NEW bi-monthly group ride series brought to you by Western Wheelers and Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange! Starting on Thursday, February 6, this exciting series will start and finish each ride at the Silicon Valley Bike Exchange (SVBE), located at 3961 East Bayshore Road, Palo Alto, just north of San Antonio Road.
What is a “Thaco Thursday Tour” and what’s it all about?
Well, “Taco Tuesday” was already taken and “Waco Wednesday” didn’t sound good, nor did most other days, so “Thaco Thursday” was the only logical choice!

Corporate Team-Building Volunteer Events in the Bay Area
Is your company looking for a team-building activity? A chance to volunteer together? A way of giving back while having fun and learning new skills?
The Bicycle Exchange has the experience and volunteer support to host a limited number of weekday volunteer events for employees who want to share the experience of giving back to the community.
If you and up to 25 of your co-workers (15 during the pandemic) are interested in bonding outside of work around bicycle repair stands amid bikes, parts and tools, this might be for you. Our corporate events are structured nearly identically to our Saturday volunteer events, except that they typically involve smaller numbers of people. If you are interested, please contact
Some helpful tips on how our corporate team-building volunteer opportunities work:
- There is a suggested donation of $50 per corporate volunteer. This helps cover the parts we use to repair bikes.
- We prefer at least two months advanced notice with several proposed date options so that we can find dates that work for volunteer event leaders.
- Volunteers will need to bring lunch or have food delivered.
- Friends and family of employees are welcome.
- We run skill-sharing events where we learn from each other. We'll provide as many mentors as we can; and, events will be most effective if some of your co-workers are mechanically skilled and are interested in sharing their skills as well.
